Best removable media Multi-track under $400

Here's the place to talk about digital multi-track recorders like the Yamaha AW series, Roland VS series, Akai DPS24, Alesis, Korg and Tascam machines. Lets add ANALOG tape machines too like Teac, Nagra, Akai, even Dokorder reel-to-reels, portastudios, old cassette 4 tracks, and anything that layers tracks. Historians and pros from the Golden Age are welcome.

Hey Tweak,

Enjoy your website and forum very much. I have learned a lot from both.

Any chance of performing a new poll for best multitracker with removeable media for under $400? It seems so much has changed since your original pool. Here's my list of nominees from a quick look at four different online music sites:

Rich, the poll states the product is the "Fostex MR-8" but zzounds has it listed as a different product, the Fostex MR8 MKII.

Fix the listing and add the MR8HD if you can.

I would probably go with the Fostex MR8HD which runs for about $350 new. 4 XLR inputs and a 40GB HD is better than two XLR inputs and CF cards which is what the Fostex MR-8mkII offers
