EA1 Tips?

Postby egokilla on Wed Jan 15, 2003 12:15 am

Tweak,

I read in another thread that you have an EA1. Do you have any tips with this piece of hardware? I thought that you could record a motion sequence on each pad (1-16) but mine doesnt appear to be able to do that.

Any advice on the unit would be great...

There's only one motion sequence per voice. So, 2 total. But forget the motion sequences--they are too short. Here's how to get the most out of the electribes--connect it to your computer sequencer and tweak as you record. On playback, all the controllers are sent back, which is like one long motion sequence, but better as it is as long as you want. If you record in loop mode (on the sequencer) you can tweak a different knob each pass. Now that's tweakin'.

Voice meaning part right? How were they able to come up with the complex patterns that sound like tons of motion sequences? Can this be done via a PC and fed back into the EA1?

1. Yes
2. Because they are good programmers
3. I don't think so.

I've thought about it some more and think they must be editing on a computer to get their presets. First, use the method I described anout recording controllers. Then edit the controllers in the sequencer till perfect. Finally record back to the electribe with motiion sequencing enabled. The playback should be identical, but with the many more tweaks recorded as motion--something impossible to do by hand very well.

______________

I assume this works both for midi and audio recording right? I'm compensating for the lack of LFO on the electribe by using VST's in cubase, am I wrong in assuming this can be done? (It sounds like it's working)
