Looking For Some Mixing Criticism...

How does one sculpt the sound of a world class piece of music? What sounds fresh today, and how do we get that sound in our mix?

Looking For Some Mixing Criticism...

Postby PillsBury on Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:45 am

Hi there,
This is a short "cover" I recorded for someone that asked me to make him a ringtone.

http://www.soundclick.com/player/single ... D=10969929

The original song is Gnarls Barkley - Crazy.
The lyrics are in my native language and they basically say:
"I rememeber when, I rememeber,
when you used to push the Send,
when I didn't have to nag...bla bla bla...
Answer me...
Answer me...
Answer me..."

Anyways, Looking for some mixing tips, or mixing flaws rather :)

Especially, although most of you don't know the language, do the vocals come through the mix clearly through out the whole "song" ? or maybe they come a lil' too strong? The right vocals level always gets kind of confusing after listening to your project for about a gazillion times ;-) same goes for the drums...

Thx,ZBBZ.

Not bad - but you've got some serious clicks and pops in there though......

Yeah, didn't catch that on first listen. 0:09 is kinda blatant.

For some reason the vocals had these pops in them...
I re-recorded them, and added a 3rd vocal track for harmony and adjusted all of the tracks levels accordingly...

anything else I can improve in your opinion guys?

Okie.

Other than that is there something I can improve?

I know it's just a simple and short song but that is why I think it's good practice for a mixing noob like me
