Which would you consider to be better on vocals? Or are they both relatively similar quality?

I actually just purchased a Solaris off ebay and waiting for it to come in. I did alot of research on this Mic and it is often compared to the AKG C414. There are couple of people on this forum that have this mic.. Do a quick search and you other threads on this..

Gee, there's only what... several million permutations left?

Shure SM58 vs. Solaris
Rode NT-2A vs. Solaris
Blue Dragonfly vs. Solaris
Motif ES8 vs. Solaris
MacBook Pro vs. Solaris
Michelin Tires vs. Solaris
Sauteed Onions vs. Solaris
Camry vs. Solaris

The moral of this story isn't even "Do a search;" it's "Browse the forums!!!" On this page alone I can see several mentions of the Solaris. Massive's probably rephrased his opinions hundreds of times in countless topics. And after a quick search you can get the input you need on the AT4040. Ugh, when will all these comparisons end? I don't have a problem with the questions, but does every single comparison involving the Solaris and God knows what else need its own topic? Come on, I have to live here! And I don't like a messy house. :x

Well i made a thread like this to try to get specific stuff for both mics...i've looked at other solaris threads, and people dont talk about it as much..they go off on other mics and crap like that...i wanted some specifics about these mics, not to argue with u man, and u do seem a bit extreme about me asking about it..but i wanted some straight up answers before i went and dropped 300 bucks on something, cause to me, thats quite some money. Sorry for the repitition of threads..if someone wants to close it down or w/e. Just wanted some answers.

I think the reason why there are so many comparsions with Solaris is because of its price. Same goes with the SP mics..

I was surprised at all of the positive reviews for a mic at this price point and to be compared to higher end Mic's (AKG C414) was a shocker...

From what I gathered through my research the Solaris and the Sputnik are probably the only mics from M-Audio that would be considered a good investment...

I plan to post my feedback/ review after I had a chance to track with with my new RNP... What type of pre will you be using it with?
