The preamps are noisy - hiss can heard with trim gain settings from about 10 o'clock and up. Using my outboard preamp and bypassing the gain stage on the Alesis howver provides clean noiseless results. I was heading down the 'getting more outboard preamps' road anyway....
The on board effects have no editable parameters so it is just 100 or so presets you can select from - the reverbs are impressive with full and lush
stereo sounds - the Chorus's are fat and wide - the delays are not very usable in my opinion - they are at the wrong MS setting or have funky left, Right right, - weird ping pongs.
With a couple more decent outboard preamps - I'll be able to keep this in my studio.
Is it worth the $799 retail price? NO-WAY!!
It should be more in the $299 - $499 range IMO
