Boss DR-770

Ah, thank heaven for Ebay. I sold my Dr. Rhythm DR-55 analog drum machine and my Dr. Rhythm DR-660 sample-based drum machine to buy this hot little number in the spring of 2001. It's got a ton of great sounds, it can go lo-fi due to the built-in effects, and is easy as heck to program. It includes a few features that the DR-660 didn't have, but they are essentially the same, so I needn't worry about a great learning curve. Mostly I'll trigger this from my DrumKat. It took less than 3 days for me to yank it unceremoniously to the ground, breaking the left/mono out. $65 later, it's now stored in a safer position in my cramped home studio.

1. Tell us how much you paid for the unit.
I paid $350, but I sold my DR-660 & analog Roland drum machine, so it felt like it was FREE.

2. How long have you had it?
1.5 years

3. Rate it on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best.
8

4. Things you like about it
good sounds, very easy to use by tapping buttons or step-entering songs. i mostly use it with the drumKat as its trigger

5. Things you don't like about it.
if i could add new sounds -- but then it would be a sampler!

6. Anything else you wish to add--
