The Use of Subgroup Faders in a Mix

How does one sculpt the sound of a world class piece of music? What sounds fresh today, and how do we get that sound in our mix?

Hi,

I work with Cubase SX3, and I want to be able to use subgroups in my mixes. Cubase has something "Group Tracks" and for example, if I wanted to group my drums, I change the bus out for each individual track (i.e, snare / kick etc) from my main outs to the group track I created.

This works fine as I can control the group with one fader and add inserts to the channel too which is what I want. HOWEVER, I cant pan any of the individual tracks anymore! It says "NO PANNER".

I must be going wrong somewhere!

Any help would be appreciated.

Create a STEREO group instead of a mono group and you'll be able to then freely pan any tracks within that group.
Just in case you didn't notice, this place is sadly dying due to spam overuns and lack of Admin upkeep.
But feel free to sign up at http://www.recordingstudiocentral.com where we're starting fresh!
