DIY Project: Phase Invert and Ground Lift

Overview: How to build a NEVE Preamp

My project is to build 2 channels of Mic preamp based on original circuit design and components used in the original Neve 1272 Mic preamp.

Goals: I wanted the Mic Preamp to be housed in a standard 19" rack case, 2u high for adequate ventilation, and to make it look more "bigger" and "impressive". For connections, I used XLR-TRS combination jacks. +48V phantom power, and phase invert.

Through my research, and pricing of parts & components, contacting people and websites from Sweden to UK, from California to NY, I've estimated the cost to be about $275 per channel, plus $100 for the power supply, and $60 for the 2u rack case. So we're looking at $700 total for a 2-channel unit. (Not bad, considering 1272-type preamps are selling on the Internet for $1400 to $2400 for 2 channels!)
